On Monday, December 7, 2015, shortly after 7:00 a.m., Phoenix Police Officers responded to 4400 W. Roosevelt St. reference a check welfare. A citizen in the area reported that he had found a dead body adjacent to the roadway. Phoenix Fire and Police arrived and confirmed the death of an adult male, later identified as 18-year-old Kemont Karim.
Karim was pronounced deceased on scene of apparent gunshot injuries. (Ultimate cause of death still to be determined.) Police detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the incident as a homicide.
Investigators have determined that Karim was last known to be with another man, identified as 21-year-old Noe Hernandez. Neither Hernandez nor his vehicle, a 2004 Pontiac Aztec, have been heard from or seen since.
Investigators are both concerned for the welfare of Hernandez and interested in talking to him about any events preceding Karim’s death.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, including the whereabouts of Hernandez or his vehicle, please urge them to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness.
