Casa Grande Woman Killed Crossing Street

On December 14th, at 7:02 p.m., the Casa Grande Police Department responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, 41 year old Christianne McCarthy, in the 2100 block of East Florence Boulevard directly in front of Siegel Suites Select.

Upon their arrival, Officers discovered Ms. McCarthy lying in the roadway and a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with front end damage. Ms. McCarthy, was flown to a Chandler hospital for treatment of apparent internal and head injuries. Ms. McCarthy did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after midnight.

The scene was closed for several hours as our Critical Accident Investigation Team (CAIT) completed their investigation. Investigators determined Ms. McCarthy, who was residing at the Siegel Select Suites, was crossing southbound on Florence Boulevard after leaving the Chevron convenience store when she was struck by the eastbound truck. She was accompanied by her 5 year old son, who was not struck or injured. Witnesses stated Ms. McCarthy was in the center turn lane waiting for a break in traffic when a vehicle in the inside lane slowed for her. The truck that struck her was in the outside lane and the 80 year old male driver may not have seen her or the child.

There is no marked cross walk in the area where this collision occurred. The driver of the truck was not cited.
