Jogging State Trooper Helps Save Kingman Motorcyclist’s Life

On the morning of October 30th, 2015, Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper Leo Becenti was on a morning jog and enjoying his off-duty hours. At about 10:30 a.m. that morning, however, he came upon a serious injury collision between a motorcycle and a sporty utility vehicle at Main Street and Wickieup Avenue.

The motorcycle operator, Mr. Bock, had sustained a serious leg laceration and was losing a large amount of blood. Trooper Becenti, along with a citizen, Ellen Baca, stopped the bleeding by using a belt and a paint stick until medical personnel arrived. According to a sergeant with the Kingman Police Department, there was a massive amount of blood loss on scene and, in his opinion, Trooper Becenti and Ms. Baca saved the injured man’s life. The rider was transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas where, as of Nov. 6th, he remained in critical condition.

Trooper Becenti’s and Ms. Baca’s names were nominated for a Life Saving Award by the Kingman Police Department. The awards presentation will take place during the Kingman City Council meeting on December 15, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. located at 310 North 4th Street.
