Glendale Police Investigate Fatal Accident on 71st Avenue

Just after 6:30 am, officers observed two vehicles run a red light at 71st Avenue and Glendale. They followed to investigate and came upon a single vehicle crash. A vehicle had crashed into a wall. At last update, that driver was extricated with life threatening injuries. A second vehicle was on-scene.

That second driver told officers that the crashed vehicle had struck his vehicle at 75th Avenue and Glendale and had fled the scene. 71st Avenue is currently closed between Orangewood and Myrtle.

The driver involved in this morning’s single vehicle crash has been declared deceased.

A driver who crashed into a block wall in Glendale on Monday morning died after being pulled from the wreckage, police said.

Officers saw two drivers run a red light at 71st and Glendale avenues, followed them and came across the single-vehicle crash about 6:30 a.m., said Sgt. David Vidaure, a police spokesman.

Fire crews extricated the injured driver, Officer Vidaure said, but he was later pronounced dead at a hospital. He has been identified as 50-year old Arnulfo Gallegos.
