Kais Will Be On LD2 Senate Primary Ballot

Shelley Kais submitted 547 Petition Signatures and 340 Clean Election Contributions this week at the Secretary of State’s Office in Phoenix for a spot on the 2016 LD2 State Senate primary ballot.

The primary is on August 30, 2016 election for the Legislative District 2 (LD2) Senate seat and hopes to earn a place on the general election ballot in November. If she is successful, Kais would likely face her look-alike, Senator Andrea Dalessandro. Dalessandro, who hails from New York, has been largely ineffective in the Legislature. A member of the minority party, Dalessandro currently has no pending legislation of record for the 2016 session, which begins on Monday.

“Today I am proud to be a Republican legislative candidate to submit the signatures and contributions required to make the ballot and be funded. I am humbled and honored by the hard work of the campaign team and supporters who made this possible. We have shown what hard work can do and I will take this same work ethic with me to work in Phoenix if elected to serve,” said Kais, who failed in her bid for Congressional District 2 in 2014, according to her press release.

“I have spoken with those who are unemployed, those fearful for their safety, and those concerned for the future of our country and the great State of Arizona. The voters are tired of partisan politicians who go to Phoenix simply to vote No on bills because they disagree with the sponsor’s party registration. The voters want someone who will fight for the best interests of the district and make jobs, public safety, and education the priorities.”

Legislative District 2 is the area south of 22nd Street down along the I-19 corridor and all of Santa Cruz County.

Santa Cruz County residents currently face one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.
