Surprise Police Respond To Valley Vista High School Bomb Threat

On Tuesday, the Surprise Police responded to an automated bomb threat at the Valley Vista High School in Surprise. Police were called to the school after a staff member in the office received an anonymous call about a possible bomb threat.

The call was received shortly after the school had released all students for the day.

School officials from the Dysart Unified School District immediately contacted the Surprise Police Department and, following an established protocol, the remaining students on campus were evacuated and after school programs were cancelled for the remainder of the day.

Later, with assistance from some Luke Air Force Base personnel, a police K-9 unit (bomb-sniffing dog) and other police officers completed a search of the campus for possible threats. No device or potential threats were discovered.

According to school officials, all school activities at the Valley Vista High School are set to resume today at the normal time of operation.

The police are continuing to investigate the incident in order to determine who called in the unsubstantiated bomb threat to the school and whether this threat is connected to other automated threats around the country.
