Tempe History Museum Celebrates Black History Month

Join the Tempe History Museum throughout February as it celebrates Black History Month with a variety of guest presenters, musical performances and fine art.

A Celebration of Black History Month
Saturday, Feb. 13; 4-6 p.m.
Celebrate art, music and fashion through the decades with the Tempe History Museum’s African American Advisory Committee. The special program provides a look back at the distinct music and fashion of the black community from the 1930’s thru the 1970’s. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.

Performances at the Museum: Driftwood Quintet
Saturday, Feb. 27; 7 p.m.
The Driftwood Quintet is a Tempe-based reed quintet dedicated to expanding the reed repertoire and finding new audiences. Their instruments include oboe, English horn, clarinets, saxophones, bassoon and bass clarinet. In honor of Black History Month, Driftwood Quintet will feature pieces from little-known Black composers. Admission is free.

Stop by the Community Room at the Tempe History Museum to take in the fine art display presented by The Diverse Artist Collective of Arizona. The display will be available for your viewing enjoyment throughout the month of February. Admission is free.
