Letter To Editor: The Cruelty of Pima Animal Control

I have been a resident of Pima County for almost 45 years and have to say that I am disappointed in the cruelty of Pima Animal Control when it comes to strays running loose. This evening my wife and I found under a bench in our carport a little stray dog. One of the cutest little things you might run across. We tried to coax this dog out and were going to try to see if we could do anything for it but having an older dog it’s not a good idea to bring a new one into the house.

My wife called Pima Animal control to try to get them to come out to get this dog as the temps tonight are supposed to drop down to 25 degrees and I’d hate to see this poor animal become a victim of the weather that we’re having but she was told by the dispatcher that they were too busy handling animal emergencies to come out and that it would be days before they could get out here. Tell me just how many animal emergencies are these people really handling? I find it hard to believe that there are THAT many emergencies that they can’t send anyone out to rescue this animal.

We, the voters of Pima County have given Pima Animal Control $22 million dollars and for what? To be cruel to the animals that are out that could be sick or hurt or could hurt a child or resident of the area because they really don’t care about these poor animals? Maybe the residents of Pima County should reconsider that $22 Million in a referendum and take it away from them as they do not seem to deserve it or care that it was given to them by the voters and all we get is lip service from them

It’s a very sad state of affairs in this county.

Sincerely,
Howard W. Hudson
