On Monday, February 1, 2016, just before 10:00 p.m., 21-year-old Brent Ball was arrested in Yavapai County for Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Possession/Transportation of a Dangerous Drug for Sale, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Possession/Transportation of a Narcotic Drug for Sale and Possession of a weapon during the Commission of a Felony.
He remains in-custody at the Camp Verde Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
Destani McCawley, age 18, was arrested for the same charges, except the weapons violation, and she remains in-custody on a $7500 bond. Both are from Arizona.
The YCSO deputy stopped a white 2015 Toyota sedan for speeding and lane violations on south I-17 in the Cordes Lakes area. During contact with driver Brent Ball and his passenger, Destani McCawley, the deputy could smell an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Both were detained and during a search of the vehicle to locate the source of the marijuana odor, the deputy found nearly 200 ‘Xanax’ pills in plastic baggies, a handgun and $285 in the center console of the vehicle. Checking the interior further, the deputy located an additional 100 ‘Xanax’ pills, $2900 in cash hidden under the front seat, and approximately 100 grams of marijuana ‘wax’ – a powerful form of marijuana with a high THC content.
Neither suspect possessed a prescription for ‘Xanax’ or medical marijuana cards. Detectives from the Partner’s Against Narcotics Trafficking are continuing the investigation into the activities of Ball and McCawley and to ascertain if the cash seized was involved in drug transactions.
