On Friday, February 5, 2016 at approximately 4:08 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a collision involving three vehicles in the area of 34th Place and Fortuna Road.
The investigation, which is still ongoing, revealed that Mr. Brian Daley, 33, of Yuma, had been traveling southbound on Fortuna Road in a white 2014 Ford F150 and sideswiped a blue 2009 Toyota Camry being driven by Mrs. Elba Rosa Santiago, 61, of Yuma. The Ford F150 then veered into the northbound lanes and struck a black 2006 Dodge van being driven by Mr. Donald Walker, 60, of British Colombia. His wife, Mrs. Vickie Walker, 63, also of British Columbia, was a passenger in the van.
All occupants were transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center by the Rural/Metro Fire Department. Mr. Walker was pronounced deceased at YRMC; next of kin notification has been made. Mrs. Walker and Mr. Daley were later air lifted to Phoenix area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
