Road Rage Leads To Shooting On SR 101

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (ADPS) is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect responsible for firing multiple bullets at another driver during a road rage incident that occurred northbound along SR-101 north of the Red Mountain SR-202 Junction.

At about 6:25 a.m. on Monday, a gray Jeep Wrangler with a black top attempted to pass a maroon or burnt orange-colored, square bodied passenger vehicle, possibly a Honda Element. The vehicle prevented the Jeep from passing. Eventually, the Jeep was able to pass the suspect vehicle and that is when the driver pointed a handgun at the Jeep and fired three to four bullets into the passenger side of the Jeep. One bullet penetrated underneath the passenger-side door handle and two other bullets blew out the right-rear tire. No one was injured.

ADPS Captain Damon Cecil said, “It is an extremely dangerous situation and we are taking it very seriously.” When asked by a reporter what he would say to the person who caused this, Capt. Cecil said, “We will find you.”

Anyone with information about this incident should call ADPS at 602-223-2212.
