Farmers Insurance Development Plan Bill Passes

Question: How do you spell corporate welfare?
Answer: H-B-2-2-3-9

Representative Karen Fann’s HB2239 passed out of the House Insurance Committee with bipartisan support this week. HB2239 is the last piece of the Farmers Insurance development plan that included the Governor’s office, the City of Phoenix, and former Director of Insurance Andy Tobin.

It provides a technical change to the Quality Jobs Credit Premium Tax that will create an estimated 400 jobs in the Phoenix area.

Representative Karen Fann stated, “We are extremely pleased and appreciative that Farmers Insurance has selected Arizona as the place to expand its business.”

Farmers Insurance, one of the largest multi-line insurer groups in the country, plans on increasing their employee base and add more 1100 jobs in the Phoenix area. The new Farmers building, which will be located in the north Phoenix area, will be used to provide operational support for its customers and agents across the country.

Tobin owned and operated a local Farmers Insurance agency for six years before entering government.
