An El Paso source close to Justice Antonin Scalia reported that the 79-year-old died in his sleep last night at Cibolo Creek Ranch in the Big Bend region outside of Marfa, Texas.
According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found the body.
The Justice did not report feeling ill and retired to his room after dinner. The source, who was traveling with Scalia, reported an El Paso priest has been called to Marfa.
Scalia was the longest-serving current Justice on the Supreme Court. He was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986.
