Pima County Helicopter Makes Rescue At Windy Point

On February 17, 2016, the Sheriff’s Department’s helicopter, “SHERIFF 1,” was used to perform a challenging nighttime rescue of a patient off of Windy Point (General Hitchcock Highway) who had suffered a broken leg, subsequent to a fall, in a remote and rocky area. Listen closely to how the Crew Chief communicates a cadence to the Pilot-in-Command in order to perfect the deployment of the hoist.

The patient was transferred to an awaiting medical transport helicopter, that was located at a nearby staging area, and then taken to Banner University Medical Center.” – Search and Rescue Commander

(The video may be somewhat difficult to see due to the dark, but you can hear how difficult it was to maneuver SHERIFF 1 during the rescue.)
