Goodyear Police arrested 37 year old Estrella Mountain Ranch resident, Alejandro S. Barragan on Monday, February 22, 2016, for the hit and run injury collision involving a 14 year old boy. The teen was riding his bike in the area of 17750 W. Elliot Rd., Goodyear on the morning of February 20, 2016. The boy was struck by the black Silverado pick-up truck while turning left into Elliott Market. According to witnesses’ account, after getting out of his truck and looking at the boy, Barragan allegedly got back into his truck and left the scene of this injury collision.
A tip came into dispatch at approx. 6:00 pm Monday evening that the vehicle in question was seen in the area. Officers located the black Silverado with front-end damage on the roadway in the area of Bullard and Broadway. The suspect was taken into custody and during the interview process confessed to being the driver in this hit and run collision. “We are fortunate here in Goodyear to have a community who comes together in times of need. Thanks to the public’s commitment in watching out for the vehicle and driver in question, a tip came in that ultimately led to the arrest of this suspect,” said Police Chief Jerry Geier.
Barragan was booked into 4th Ave. jail at approx. 1:30 a.m. today and is charged with a Class 3 Felony for leaving the scene of a serious physical injury collision, ARS 28-661
