UNS Electric Wants To Raise Santa Cruz, Mohave County Rates

The Arizona Corporation Commission will hold a public hearing starting March 1st concerning UNS Electric’s application to raise rates. UNS Electric is owned by UniSource and provides service to Santa Cruz and Mohave Counties.

The hearing will continue for several days at the Tucson Corporation Commission Office that is inside the Arizona State Building at 400 W. Congress Street in Utilities Hearing room 222. The public will have an opportunity to speak on the first day of the hearing.

Commissioners will consider UNS Electric’s request to raise revenues, fees the company can charge for current and future rooftop solar customers, and demand based charges for all customers. Several parties and advocacy groups will be presenting information in the case for consideration. The Commissioners are expected to consider the case in June, after recommendations have been made by the judge overseeing the hearing.

The Commissioners will also be holding public comment sessions with residents impacted. The first one will be Tuesday, March 22nd in Nogales, the second will be Thursday March 31st in Kingman and Lake Havasu. The times and locations will be announced at a later date.
