The Pinal County Search and Rescue Team has recovered the remains of 25-year-old Brian Head in the Superstition Mountains.
On Friday, February 26th, at 3:38 p.m. the mother of Brian Head called Pinal County Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Communications Center to report that her son had left to go “base jumping” in the Superstition Mountains. She reported that he left on Thursday and he had not been heard from since nor had he shown up at work. Brian’s mother lives in Dallas, Texas.
Deputies located the vehicle belonging to Brian near the Mining Camp Restaurant. PCSO Search and Rescue teams responded and began to conduct a search with the assistance of air units from the Mesa Police Department, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “Technical Rescue Teams had to repel down the side of the mountain to recover his body. When they reached Brian, his parachute harness was not on him and his parachute was never deployed. Investigators believe, Brian fell from the side of the cliff to his death late Thursday afternoon. Brian was an avid skydiver and base jumper. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”
