Tucson fashion and film fans will be treated to the Arizona premiere of the acclaimed new documentary “The First Monday in May,” from director Andrew Rossi (Page One: Inside the New York Times) just days after its debut at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. The screening will take place Monday, April 18 at 7pm, at the Loft Cinema, 3233 East Speedway Blvd.
The screening is a collaboration between Tucson Fashion Week, and Tucson’s newest film festival, Film Fest Tucson, both of which will take place in October. Tickets for the screening are just $20 per person with a limited number of student tickets available for $12.
Film Fest Tucson (FFT), a new spin on last year’s successful Tucson Festival of Films, is a destination film festival that is set to take place in downtown Tucson at the iconic Scottish Rite Cathedral from October 20-23. It will feature new narrative and documentary short and feature length films by emerging and established directors, as well as a special heritage film from Tucson’s film legacy, vintage black and white “lost” films and much, much more. Part of FFT’s mission is collaboration with other arts and culture entities, and this screening is the first of several that are planned between FFT & Tucson Fashion Week. Other special events will take place all year long and will be announced soon.
Tucson Fashion Week (TFW), now in its 4th year, is a stylish, innovative and unique community-focused experience, which is putting Tucson on the national fashion and retail landscape. TFW is designed as a professional platform for emerging regional, national and international designers to showcase their work locally and nationally to consumers, buyers and industry leaders. House of PM, a collaboration of Paula Taylor Productions and MHS Styling are the Owners/Creative Directors of Tucson Fashion Week. This community-wide annual event incorporates three days of fashionable experiences and events encompassing style, art, celebrity and cuisine. Additionally, each year TFW is committed to donating a percentage of event proceeds to important local nonprofits. The 2016 recipient is Southern Arizona Children’s Advocacy Center.
