On December 4, 2015, a jury found Sophia Richter and Fernando Richter guilty of three counts of Kidnapping and three counts of Child Abuse for keeping their three daughters imprisoned in their home.
Fernando Richter was also convicted of two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The couple held their three daughters, then ages 12, 13, and 17, captive for approximately three months inside their Tucson home. The girls were physically abused and kept in dire living conditions.
The Richters were sentenced on March 10, 2016, by Superior Court Judge Paul Tang.
Fernando Richter was sentenced to 58 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections and Sophia Richter was sentenced to 20 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections followed by three years of supervised probation.
