MCSO Makes 2 Arrests In Pug Puppy Mill Investigation

On November 17th 2015, Maricopa Sheriff’s Office Animal Crimes Unit seized 129 animals from a home in Tonopah. Sheriff’s deputies, after receiving a tip, served a search warrant at the home and found the dogs living in deplorable conditions, with no food or water. Of the seized animals there were 122 pugs, 6 French Bulldogs and 1 cat.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio reports the arrests of Catherine Hutchison 10/12/54 and Kevin Main 6/29/61 this week at their home in Tonopah on 208 charges each:

  • 75 counts Fail to provide medical treatment (Misdemeanor)
  • 129 counts  Animal-Cruel Neglect/abandon (Misdemeanor)
  • 4 counts Animal-cruel-neglect-physical injury (Felony)

Sheriff Arpaio is also announcing that all of the animals have been treated back to health and have all found loving homes through the Sheriff’s MASH unit adoption program.

The defendants were seen by a Judge in Initial Appearance court early this morning and were released on their own recognizance to appear later next month.

Arpaio says his office has seen an increase in animal abuse and hoarding cases and has promised these types of investigations will continue.
