Bomb Hoax Suspect Wanted On Felony Arrest Warrant

The Tucson Police Department has been investigating a series of bomb hoaxes perpetrated in the Tucson area over the last two weeks. The locations of the hoaxes included health centers, churches, schools and government buildings. In some of these instances, the buildings were evacuated and business or classes were disrupted for several hours.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department Bomb Squad have furthered the investigation. They have worked with the Marana Police Department, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the Department of Public Safety and members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force. At this time, approximately eighteen separate reports have been investigated.

Detectives have identified the suspect as 42-year-old Octavio Acosta. He is described as:

  • A Hispanic male,
  • 5’10”, 150 lbs.,
  • Gray hair and brown eyes.

A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Hoax, a class 4 felony, Interference with an Educational Institution, a class 6 felony and False Reporting, a class 6 felony. Additional charges may be added at a Later date.
