Broadway Project Forces Council Meeting Site Change

In anticipation of a large crowd, tonight’s Mayor and Tucson City Council Regular Meeting will be moved to the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room in the Pima County Administration Building, 130 W. Congress St. The Meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on channel 96 (Cox and Comcast). Rebroadcasts of the meeting will appear on Tucson 12 and online at https://www.tucsonaz.gov/tv12/mayor-and-council.

The earlier Study Session will be held in Council Chambers in City Hall, 255 W. Alameda St. as previously scheduled.

The large crowds are anticipated to participate in the following public hearing agenda item no. 8:

PUBLIC HEARING:  BROADWAY BOULEVARD:  EUCLID TO COUNTRY CLUB ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, PUBLIC COMMENT ON 30% DESIGN PLANS

  2. Hearing on the Broadway Boulevard: Euclid to Country Club Roadway Improvement Project 30% design plans.

On June 9, 2015, the Mayor and Council adopted a Baseline Alignment Concept for a 6-lane roadway consistent with RTA policy guidance and the recommendations of the Broadway Citizen Task Force. Mayor and Council directed staff to begin the design process based on a set of Technical Design Parameters utilizing the Baseline Alignment Concept map as a starting point. The Project Team has worked through March 14, 2016, on taking the Baseline Alignment Concept through to the 30% design plans guided by the Technical Design Parameters. The 30% design plans have been completed and presented to the public at an Open House on March 29, 2016.

This Public Hearing will allow public comment, as well as discussion by Mayor and Council; but no action will be taken by Mayor and Council at this time.
