Tempe’s Judicial Advisory Board has selected five of 12 applicants to interview

Tempe’s Judicial Advisory Board has selected five of 12 applicants to interview for Tempe Municipal Court Presiding Judge. The board, which was appointed by City Council, is seeking public comment on the candidates.

Current Presiding Judge MaryAnne Majestic, who has led the Tempe Municipal Court since 2010, is retiring on June 30. She has served as a Judge in Tempe since 1994.

The Judicial Advisory Board will interview these candidates on April 11 during a public meeting beginning at 1 p.m.:

• Mayra J. Galindo, Nogales Municipal Court Presiding Judge
• Kevin Kane, a Phoenix Municipal Court Judge and former Presiding Justice Court Judge, Hyde Park City, Utah
• Michelle Lue Sang, a Mesa Municipal Court Judge
• Wendy A. Million, a Tucson Municipal Court Judge
• Peter D. Psareas, Bullhead City Municipal Court Presiding Judge

Interviews are open to the public and the Judicial Advisory Board welcomes public input. Information on how to provide comments is located on the Tempe Municipal Court webpage www.tempe.gov/court. Comments may be submitted at a public hearing after the interviews on April 11 at 4 p.m. or in writing by April 21.

The Judicial Advisory Board’s recommendations for appointment of a Presiding Judge will be submitted to the Mayor and City Council. The recommendations will likely occur in late April.
