Serial Bank Robbery Suspect Has Been Identified & Arrested

The Tucson Police Department and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have  successfully worked together identifying Ronald Wilger as the recent serial bank robbery suspect.

During the last two bank robberies, detectives from the Tucson Police Department’s Robbery Unit were able to obtain information and forensic evidence that identified 47-year-old Ronald Joseph Wilger as the subject involved. On May 19, 2016, detectives obtained a felony arrest warrant for Wilger reference multiple counts of Armed Robbery.

On May 20, 2016, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Tucson Police Detectives located Wilger at a motel on E Benson Highway, just down the road from the Sheriff’s Benson Highway offices. He was taken into custody with the assistance of U.S. Marshals. Wilger was booked into the Pima County Jail for a Felony Parole Violation Warrant and the Armed Robbery Warrant.

The vehicles pictured in the various robberies have all been located and detectives have spoken with the owners. The female who was seen with the suspect in one of the photos has also been identified and located.

Tucson Police Detectives and Pima County Sheriff Detectives will be presenting all of the cases to the Pima County Attorney’s Office next week. Additional charges are pending.
