Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents made seizures and arrests in three separate events prior to entering the Memorial Day weekend.
On Thursday, May 26, Blythe Station agents encountered two male U.S. citizens at a gas station in Ehrenberg, Arizona. Agents smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and arrested the two subject after a search of the vehicle yielded three pounds of marijuana, two hand guns and 23 counterfeit $100 bills. The narcotics were worth an estimated $1,520.
On Friday, May 27, agents arrested Ramiro Bello-Juanito, a Mexican national who was illegally present in the United States. Records checks revealed an active warrant for Bello-Juanitio by the Arizona Department of Corrections.
Also on Friday, a vehicle attempting to pass through the Highway 95 immigration checkpoint was referred for a secondary inspection after a K9 team alerted to the vehicle. Further inspection revealed both occupants of the vehicle were carrying nearly 13 pounds of cocaine concealed in their waistbands. The narcotics were worth an estimated $143,487. In addition, one of the subjects had a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue hidden in his sock. Both subjects who are lawful permanent residents were arrested.
