On Saturday May 21, 2016, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Pima County deputies responded to the 3700 Block of South Rena Road for the report of shots heard.
When deputies arrived, they learned that one of the reporting party’s dogs was shot by her neighbor, 57-year-old Marvin Christy, as a result of an ongoing neighbor dispute over the dogs. Detectives with the Community Problems Unit took over the investigation.
Through their investigation, they found that Mr. Christy is a prohibited possessor. A search warrant was obtained for Mr. Christy’s residence where several firearms were located and seized.
Mr. Christy’s wife, 50-year-old Rebecca Christy, who is also a prohibited possessor, was at the residence and found to be in possession of firearms. Mr. Christy was arrested for possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor and animal cruelty charges.
Mrs. Christy was arrested for possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor. Mr. and Mrs. Christy were booked into the Pima County Jail.
The dog, 3-year-old Blue, sustained non-life threatening injuries, however will likely have a limp for the rest of his life. Blue is currently under the care of a veterinarian.
