Yuma – Two vehicles collided head-on on westbound Interstate 8, milepost 1.7 near Giss Parkway near the California border. One vehicle was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic at the time of the collision.
On Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at about 8:15 a.m. a Buick passenger vehicle driven by Dorothy Paul, 80, from Yuma, was driving the wrong way on Interstate 8, going eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic. A Honda passenger vehicle, driven by 60-year-old male subject was traveling in the proper direction when his vehicle was struck head-on by the Buick.
Dorothy Paul died at the scene from her injuries. The male subject was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a medical center in Phoenix and is in critical condition. Both drivers were wearing safety restraints.
Rock Springs, Ariz. – Two vehicles collided on southbound Interstate 17 milepost 242 causing both vehicles to roll over.
On Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at about 9:02am, a Suzuki passenger vehicle was northbound on Interstate 17, milepost 242, in the area of Rock Springs just south of Black Canyon City, when the driver, Charles Kenney, 55, from Mayer, for an unknown reason drove into the median. The Suzuki then exited the median into the southbound lanes of traffic where it was stuck by a Toyota pickup, driven by Bryan Stewart, 42, from Phoenix. The pickup rolled over and both vehicles came to a stop off the right side of the road.
Charles Kenney died at the scene from his injuries. Bryan Stewart was transported to Honor Health North Mountain for treatment of his injuries. Both drivers were wearing safety restraints.
