Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell, Councilmembers Joel Navarro and Kolby Granville, and Councilmember-Elect Randy Keating will be sworn into office on Thursday, July 7.
This will be Mitchell’s second four-year term as Mayor, and Navarro’s third term and Granville’s second term on the City Council. The election was held in March. Vice Mayor Corey Woods did not run for re-election after two terms.
The swearing-in ceremony, conducted by City Clerk Brigitta Kuiper, will take place at 6:30 p.m.in the City Council Chambers, 31 E. Fifth St. A reception at the Tempe Transportation Center, 200 E. Fifth St., will follow the meeting. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
After the ceremony, the Mayor and Council will select a new Vice Mayor from among the Councilmembers. Vice Mayor is a two-year role that includes serving as the presiding officer for Council meetings when the Mayor is not in attendance.
