A former Pinal County resident received an extensive prison sentence to the Arizona Department of Corrections for sexually abusing a family member for years before the family moved to California.
On June 30th Pinal County Superior Court Judge sentenced Juan Carlos Sandoval of San Luis Obispo, California to 117 years following his April conviction on multiple charges.
Charges included, four felony counts of molestation of a child, all dangerous crimes against children one felony count of sexual abuse a DCAC and five felony counts of sexual conduct with a minor also DCAC’s.
In 2014 after moving to California the victim revealed the 56 year-old defendant sexually abused her over the course of nine years. California authorities did an initial investigation, but turned the case over to the Pinal County Sheriff’s office, after they discovered the sexual abuse took place when the family lived in Pinal County. PCSO extradited the defendant back to Arizona to faces charges and a jury trial. The victim reported she was only nine years old when the defendant started molesting her. She said he touched her inappropriately forced him to conduct conduct sexual acts on him and performed sexual acts on her without her consent.
The Pinal County Attorney’s Office says it takes no case lightly especially when it comes to crimes against our children.
