Arizonans Can Provide Input On ESSA Rulemaking

On Tuesday, in order to provide Arizonans with information about the upcoming transition to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Arizona Department of Education released a webinar detailing its draft responses to the initial Notice of Proposed Rulemaking released by the U.S. Department of Education for accountability, consolidated state plans and data reporting under ESSA.

The rulemaking process provides an opportunity for both states and individuals to provide feedback on the proposed regulations that, once finalized, will govern the implementation of ESSA. The webinar explains the process in detail and summarizes ADE’s initial thoughts on USED’s proposed rules.

The webinar is available here and ADE’s draft comments on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) are available here. Both have also been added to the Department’s ESSA web page at www.azed.gov/essa under Updates on ESSA Proposed Rulemaking.

To submit NPRM comments directly to the U.S. Department of Education by the August 1, 2016 deadline, please visit the Federal Register here. You can also submit your thoughts to ADE at ESSAInbox@azed.gov. Those interested in receiving regular ESSA updates from ADE, can sign up at www.azed.gov/essa/essa-updates/.
