On Saturday July 30, 2016 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Tucson Police officers and members from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a report of a serious injury pedestrian collision, near East 22nd Street and South Alvernon Way. Tucson Fire immediately transported the adult male pedestrian to Banner University Medical Center. Shortly after arrival at the hospital, the pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Sergio Manuel Pedregon, passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
Dectives from the Tucson Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. They were able to determine that a 1973 Ford F150 pickup truck was eastbound on East 22nd Street in the curb lane. As the vehicle passed South Alvernon Way, the pedestrian stepped off of the raised median and crossed southbound across East 22nd Street. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was struck by the pickup truck. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision and there were no signs of impairment from the driver.
