Early this morning, just before 2:30 a.m., Tucson Police Department Officer Joshua Parrish and Officer Troy Lansdale were patrolling in the area of the Northbound I-10 Frontage Rd. and W. Speedway Blvd. when a vehicle pulled alongside of them. The driver of the vehicle asked the officers for help.
The officers pulled to the side of the road and quickly learned the passenger of the vehicle was in labor. They requested the paramedics and sprang into action. The officers were able to talk the mother through the birth and a baby boy was born at the scene. Ofc. Derek Smith arrived on scene to assist with the care of the baby prior to the paramedic arrival.
The mother and baby were later transported to a local hospital in good health.
