Whetstone Woman Killed In Single Vehicle Collision

On Friday September 30, 2016 at approximately 10:30 am, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a one vehicle rollover on Charleston Road at mile post 10.

Deputies arrived on scene and located a white Chevy Blazer resting upside down with the back on a barbed wire fence east of Charleston Road. A female was out of the vehicle with several bystanders, including two out of state nurses, keeping her calm.

Tombstone Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and began treating the victim, when she became unresponsive and they provided life saving measures.

Health Care Innovations ambulance arrived and transported the woman to the Canyon Vista Hospital where she was pronounced deceased by medical staff. Next of kin notification was provided for the victim, 33 year old Janna Todd from Whetstone.

The initial investigation indicates that the vehicle had been northbound on Charleston Road when it veered off the roadway to the left. It appears the driver overcompensated for the action which caused the vehicle to veer off of the road to the right at which point the vehicle rolled over before coming to rest at the fence.
