On Thursday October 13, 2016 at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking Task Force (P.A.N.T.), along with personnel from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant seeking evidence of illegal drug use and possession for sales at a residence located in the 3900 block of Beaver Vista Road in Rimrock, Arizona.
As the search continued, Detectives found over ¼ pound (over 128 grams) of crystal methamphetamine along with related drug paraphernalia that included unused bindle baggies and a digital scale. Detectives also located numerous rifles and handguns inside the home along with a home surveillance system among other items.During the execution of the search warrant, 57-year old Mark Stanley Marszalek and 39 year-old Haili Teresa Herbert, were located inside the residence. The task force had been investigating reports that Marszalek had been selling methamphetamine for over a year and a half.
Both Marszalek and his associate, Herbert were taken into custody without incident. They were booked in at the Yavapai County Detention Center and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Misconduct Involving Weapons. Both Marszalek and Herbert have been released – each posting a $5000 bond.
She was escorted into her room inside the main house where she quickly packed two bags full of personal property. At the time she was gathering items in the room, the detective could not clearly see her because of the room’s layout. Additionally, the room was littered with property. Detectives stopped Calhoun as she exited the room and upon examining contents of the bags, found the following items:
On October 15, 2016, a YCSO detective was involved in an investigation of a homicide that occurred late night on October 14th in the 4000 block of E Airport Drive, Rimrock. A 17-year-old suspect was eventually arrested and the homicide scene was under full protective containment by YCSO personnel but had not yet been searched. 24-year-old Moriah Calhoun, who lives in a room at the home, was interviewed off site in the early morning hours of October 15th regarding the incident and determined not to be involved. She was allowed, under escort, to return to the home and retrieve personal belongings and a dog. Detectives also advised Calhoun that whatever property she took from the house would be examined by them before she left.
11 used baggies with apparent drug residue, 2 loaded syringes containing heroin, 54 mostly used syringes in a make-up bag, metal box containing baggies and US currency, nearly 14 grams of cocaine, 3 snort tubes with residue, 1 gram of tar heroin, ½ gram of tar heroin in a white cup, drug paraphernalia including several spoons with burn marks, brown powered heroin in individual baggies each marked for weight – total heroin seized exceeded 11 grams, electronic scale and several pills.
Calhoun admitted to ongoing heroin/cocaine use. Detectives also determined the packaging found was indicative of drug sales. Calhoun was arrested and booked at the Camp Verde Detention on charges including Possession or use of drug paraphernalia, Possession or use of a dangerous drug, Possession of a dangerous drug for sale and Possession of a narcotic drug for sale. She remains in-custody on a $25,000 bond.
