The Scottsdale City Council has for a second time failed to select a new city manager after interviewing applicants Thursday at City Hall. After City Council members interviewed the three applicants, and engaged in a private discussion, they asked the recruiting firm to find more candidates.
Additional interviews could occur as early as December, though no specific dates have been set.
Three finalists were interviewed Nov. 10 and remain in contention for the job: Konrad Hildebrandt, assistant city manager, City of Odessa, Texas; Gary M. Luebbers, previous city manager, City of Sunnyvale, California; and Jeffery M. Nichols, Scottsdale city treasurer.
Scottsdale’s city manager position has been vacant since June 2015. Scottsdale Water Director Brian K. Biesemeyer has been serving as acting city manager since then, but is not a candidate for the position fulltime.
