The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating the murder of 38-year-old Joseph Robert Lundberg, that occurred Friday night at the Ronstadt Transit Center downtown.
On November 19, 2016, just after 12:30 a.m., Tucson Police officers and members of the Tucson Fire Department responded to the RTC reference a report of an injured male on the ground. Upon arrival, Lundbergan was located near a bus bench with obvious signs of trauma. Tucson Fire immediately began medical treatment, however Mr. Lundberg passed away and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Homicide Detectives were able to determine that Mr. Lundberg and an unknown male were involved in a physical confrontation near the bus benches at approximately 11:30 p.m. (November 18, 2016). During the confrontation, the male suspect stabbed Mr. Lundberg and then fled northbound from the area on foot.
Detectives have information that other people were in the area at the time of the stabbing and may have seen what happened. They are encouraging anyone with information to please call 911 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
