The 2017 spring training schedule for Peoria Sports Complex has been released. Peoria will be entering its 24th season of spring with the opening game on Saturday, Feb. 25 between the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres in the annual charity game benefiting the Peoria Diamond Club.
The final game is an evening game on Friday, March 31 with the Mariners playing against the Colorado Rockies with a postgame fireworks display to celebrate the season.
The San Diego Padres’ home slate is highlighted by an early season matchup with the division rival San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 1:10 p.m. and a fireworks show after the 6:40 p.m. game versus the Chicago White Sox on Friday, March 3. The Seattle Mariners’ schedule features a Saturday matinee against the San Francisco Giants on March 18 at 1:10 p.m. and a 7:10 p.m. contest against the division rival Oakland Athletics on March 21. Be sure to mark your calendar for March 8 through 13 as the 2016 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series opponents, the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs, play in Peoria four times in six days.
MLB pitchers and catchers are due to report for spring training by Feb. 14 and position players are due by Feb. 17. Clubs’ first full squad workouts are scheduled to begin the day after position players report. Each team in the Cactus League may have varying report days. •Spring season tickets: Three season ticket options are available for Mariners home games, Padres home games and full season packages. To become a season ticketholder, call 623-773-8720.
•Special online ticket presale: A special presale for Mariners and Padres season ticketholders and MLB.com registered users will take place Dec. 3-5, 2016. Tickets can only be purchased through www.padres.com or www.mariners.com. Online single game tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016.
•Peoria Sports Complex ticket office: In-person ticket sales for all spring training games at Peoria Sports Complex will begin Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. and the ticket office—located at 16101 N. 83rd Avenue—will be open until 4 p.m. Daily hours thereafter will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Tickets may also still be purchased at www.padres.com, www.mariners.com or by calling 800-677-1227.
•Group tickets and catering: There are many exciting group event opportunities at Peoria Sports Complex. The impressive Colonnade is an indoor, air-conditioned event space with a patio down the third base line that features an exceptional catering menu, private bathrooms, TVs and more. The expansive Pavilion beyond the leftfield bullpen offers a classic ballpark barbecue menu for up to 400 people.
