LUKEVILLE, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Field Operations officers seized 184 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $91,000, at Arizona’s Port of Lukeville.
After CBP officers selected a Ford sedan for a secondary inspection on Friday (Dec. 16), a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the inside of the trunk and behind the back seats. The 22-year-old driver, from Yuma, Ariz., was taken into custody and officers removed packages from the vehicle which weighed 60 pounds and are worth $30,000.
Officers referred an Infiniti sedan being driven by a 45-year-old Tucson man for further inspection. A canine alert to the back doors and rocker panels, led to the discovery and removal of 124 pounds of marijuana, worth $62,000.
The drugs and vehicles have been seized. Both subjects were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
