Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call December 28, 2016 at 7:15 p.m. from a female caller stating there was a rollover accident with injuries involving an ATV and three juveniles. She advised her friend was bleeding from the head and not breathing.
Deputies responded to the accident located in the desert area on Telegraph Canyon road, south of Superior Town limits. The 15 year old driver was wearing her safety belt, but the two passengers were not. The vehicle only has two seats and the extra passenger was sitting between the front seats. The driver attempted to make a jump on a berm and lost control of the vehicle. It flipped onto its top; ejecting the two unrestrained passengers.
One 14 year old female, Julissa Rose Garcia, was caught between the vehicle and the ground and sustained severe injuries. CPR was performed, but she succumbed to her injuries on scene. Both other occupants received non-life threatening injuries and were treated and released. While speed was a factor, there were no indications of alcohol or drug use by any of the occupants.
The family has set up a Gofundme page for help with expenses.
