On January 3, 2017 at approximately 6:45 pm Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the call of a pedestrian being struck on Chuichu Road south of Peters Rd. Upon arrival deputies found several citizens performing CPR on 18 year old Cheryl Lincoln who had been struck by a car.
Vehicular Crime Investigators were called out and responded to the location. The investigators found that Cheryl had been drinking with two of her friends at a park in Casa Grande. They decided to walk back to their place of residence and Cheryl kept walking into the street and her friends kept telling her to get out of the roadway.
A family traveling in the unlit area with two small children, driving at the posted speed limit did not see Cheryl in the roadway and struck her with his vehicle. The driver did not have time to apply the brakes or avoid the collision in any way. There were no signs of impairment of the driver and none of the passengers in the vehicle were injured.
On January 6, 2017, at approximately 5:45 am the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Border Patrol employee on their way to work. A male subject was jogging westbound in the left turn lane of Jimmie Kerr near Noble Circle in Casa Grande Arizona. Minutes later, another caller reported the same subject had been struck by a vehicle.
The subject was identified as 32 year old Antonio Orneleas of Casa Grande. He was running westbound in the center turn lane when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. There were no indications of impairment on either party. Antonio was air lifted to Maricopa Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries.
