On Wesnesday, just before 1:15 a.m., 32-year-old James Murray Reaves called 9-1-1 to turn himself in to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department for a deadly stabbing near Tucson Estates.
Reaves was located near Whetstone, Arizona and taken into custody. He is being held at the Cochise County Jail, and faces charges of 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and 1st Degree Burglary.
On Monday, January 9, 2017, just before 3:00 a.m., Pima County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 2800 block of South Shiela Avenue for a report of a robbery. When deputies arrived, they learned that two victims had been stabbed, and one suspect had fled the scene. One male victim was immediately transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds, and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff upon his arrival. His girlfriend suffered minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital.
Homicide detectives learned the female victim’s ex-boyfriend, Reaves, was the suspect who fled the scene. It was discovered that Reaves came over to the residence early in the morning, and a physical altercation ensued between Reaves and the male victim. Reaves allegedly proceeded to stab the male victim multiple times during the fight. After the incident, Reaves fled to a nearby Circle K where he was picked up by someone driving a white pickup truck.
