On January 18, 2017, around 9:45 p.m., Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a vehicle rollover crash in the 13000 block of Prescott Street, Humboldt. Emergency Medical personnel arrived on scene and indicated both occupants, 44-year-old James Wayne Collins from Dewey and 46-year-old Rhonda Kay Hudson from Prescott Valley had died.
The initial investigation indicates the vehicle was travelling west on Prescott Street, left the roadway and struck some rocks which apparently caused it to roll. The vehicle then crashed through a fence before coming to rest on its roof. Both occupants, not wearing seat belts, were ejected and found several yards away.
Speed is a likely factor in the crash, but final cause determinations are pending toxicology tests. Initial reports have not addressed who was driving the vehicle.
