Domestic Violence Suspect Shoots At Pima County Deputies

Saturday, at approximately 10:40 a.m.., Pima County deputies responded to a residence in the 4400 block of West Irvington Road for the report of threats. After conducting their investigation, deputies determined the incident was domestic violence related and 26-year-old Jose Silva was the suspect involved. As deputies cleared from the residence, they came into contact with a vehicle and suspect matching Silva’s description.

Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle in the 4600 block of Calle Don Tomas, but Silva refused to exit the car. He then reversed the vehicle, almost hitting the deputies, and sped off leading the deputies on a pursuit. Mr. Silva led deputies to a dead-end on West Drexel Road. He then exited the vehicle and continued running from both deputies, this time on foot. As Silva was running, he shot at the pursuing deputies. In response, one of the deputies shot back, striking Silva multiple times in his left arm.

Both deputies immediately rendered aid to Silva and called for emergency medical assistance. Once emergency medical personnel arrived on scene, they transported Mr. Silva to Banner University Medical Center. He is being treated for his injuries. No deputies were injured during the incident. Robbery Assault detectives responded to investigate. This investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
