The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office believes searchers have located the charred remains of 25-year-old Cody Virgin. “Sadly, the body was charred and we were unable to immediately identify it as the remains of Cody Virgin,” said Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office released the sensitive information in a Facebook post on Saturday.
William Daniel Randolph, 26, has been arrested in connection Cody’s death. He has been charged with murder, concealment of a human body and hindering an investigation.
Lamb said a body was discovered just south of Coolidge Municipal Airport on Saturday afternoon.
Authorities are conducting tests to positively identify the remains.
It is believed that Randolph killed Cody and tried to hide his body.
Cody was last heard from by family members on Monday January 30th, 2017 at approximately 9:30 p.m. He told his family that he had met a girl on Facebook and was going to meet her and possibly go to a bonfire later that night, according to Sheriff Lamb.
Cody had not shown up for work nor has he contacted his employer. Cody had worked as a correctional officer at La Palma Correctional Center in Eloy beginning in June 2015.
