TPD Investigates Fatal Motorcycle Collision

On December 2, 2017, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Tucson Police officers responded to the area of North Arcadia Avenue and East 4th Street for a report of a serious injury collision involving two motorcycles.

One of the riders fled on foot before police were able to arrive on scene. The Tucson Fire Department transported the other rider to Banner University Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

Detectives were able to determine that a 2013 red/white Honda motorcycle and a 2005 black Suzuki motorcycle were traveling southbound on Arcadia at a high rate of speed. As the rider of the Honda motorcycle began to slow down near 4th Street, the Suzuki motorcycle struck him from behind. Both riders were thrown from their motorcycles.

The rider of the Suzuki fled from the scene and it was quickly discovered that the Suzuki was a stolen motorcycle. The rider of that motorcycle was located the same day and identified as 33-year-old Zachary Roller. Mr. Roller had serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle.

On December 9, 2017, the rider of the Honda motorcycle passed away from injuries sustained during the collision. He was identified as 35-year-old Jeremy Teeter.

Speed was a factor in the collision. No signs of impairment were discovered and both riders were wearing helmets.
