Amy’s Baking Company, and its owners became infamous after they were featured on the reality television show Kitchen Nightmares in 2013. The combative couple became a buzz on social media for their abusive online responses to posters. Forbes called their behavior an example of how a business should not react to comments posted on social media.
Narrative from the Call for service and 911 call:
SPD was called to ABC`s Bistro reference a disturbance. The call was shortly upgraded to a subject with a knife. After arriving at the scene and determining the disturbance had ended, interviews with witnesses and employees of ABC`s Bistro were conducted. Based on the videos obtained from witnesses, a video recorded by Amy, and the statements given, the following is the chain of events that lead to police being called.
Around 1630 hours, an unknown male subject who was possibly under the influence of alcohol came to ABC`s Bistro with two other unknown men. The man complained about the service at ABC Bistro and this started a verbal argument between the male subject and Sammy. The argument continued outside where Sammy and Amy yelled obscenities and followed the unknown subject as he was leaving with his friends. Sammy at one point returned to the restaurant and reemerged with a knife, waving it around yelling “You XXXX!” at the unknown male subject. During this time Amy is seen and heard also being verbally abusive towards the subject as he was trying leave. Amy then escorted Sammy back inside as people are heard telling to Sammy to put the knife down.
When PD arrived the unknown male and his friends were gone and all videos were reviewed. Based on the unknown male leaving prior to our arrival, we were not able to check if he wanted to prosecute for threatening and intimidating and disorderly conduct, so no charges are pending at this time. All witnesses said they did not want to prosecute for disorderly conduct and no one could provide us with the identity of the unknown male subject. That concluded our involvement.
