“We must secure the border,” Gosar said in a Facebook post in which he showed his constituents from the northern half of the state what it looks like in the most southern part.
Gosar noted,” Illegal immigration and drug smuggling is bad for the environment. The Tucson Border Patrol reports that the average illegal border crosser leaves an average of 8 pounds of garbage on our land and in our forests. That’s nearly 60 million pounds of trash every year. I saw a bunch of this litter today firsthand,” wrote Gosar of his visit.
Gosar toured the Arizona/Mexico border near Arivaca. The local ranchers showed the congressman the trails commonly used by illegals for trafficking and drug smuggling. Gosar said in his post, “It’s pretty obvious that there is poor border security.”
Nineteen pairs of “carpet shoes” that have been left on one rancher’s private property. Illegal immigrants smuggling drugs and people use these shoes to cover their tracks.
He shared pictures of carpet shoes used by illegal crossers to hide their tracks from Board Patrol agents.
