TPD Officer Rambaran Recognized For Brave Service

The Tucson Police Department is recognizing Officer Alexandra Rambaran for her bravery and her “demonstration of the Tucson Police Department Values of Service Orientation, Leadership and Professionalism,” for her rescue and treatment of a citizen in crisis.

On August 25, 2015, Officers responded to the area of Speedway and Van Alstine, reguarding a reported man trespassing on the railroad tracks. Officer Rambaran was first on scene and she observed a male lying on the railroad tracks. Officer Rambaran was able to get the 43 year old adult male off the railroad track as the railroad crossing safety arms were going down and a train was quickly approaching.

As the train was passing, it was necessary that Officer Rambaran hold the adult male down on the ground while he was actively resisting.

This detention ensured his safety until the train passed. Fortunately Officer Rambaran was quick to act while maintaining an empathetic and compassionate demeanor toward an individual who was in crisis.
