When deputies arrived, they heard a gunshot coming from inside the complex and located a man in an apartment matching the description of the suspect who was later identified as 26-year-old Michael Albert Mesaros. Also found in the apartment was a handgun. Deputies then searched the rest of the apartment complex for possible outstanding suspects or victims, but none were located.
Detectives learned that Michael Albert Mesaros intentionally fired his weapon at the first patrol vehicle to arrive. The patrol vehicle was struck once in the hood and the deputies were unharmed. Detectives also learned that three other vehicles in the parking lot had sustained damage from gunshots along with one of the buildings.
Michael Albert Mesaros was transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Center and booked on the following charges:
• Two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder
• Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Person
• Criminal Damage
• Failure to Appear Warrant
