The Tucson Police Department has arrested two suspects involved in a series of armed robberies that spanned over the last month.
Robbery detectives with the Tucson Police Department have been investigating a series of armed robberies that started on May 11, 2015 and continued through June 3, 2015. During that time period, 13 robberies occurred at various businesses throughout the Tucson area. All were robbed at gunpoint by the same individual. An accomplice assisted the primary suspect in at least one of those robberies. The majority of the robberies involved cell phone businesses; however an eating establishment, a gas station and a hotel were also robbed.
While detectives were conducting their investigation, they developed information that led them to believe 29-year-old Jose Richard was the primary suspect involved. Multiple units from the Tucson Police Department began searching for Mr. Richard. On June 4, 2015, officers located Mr. Richard in a vehicle with 26-year-old Victoria Gonzales, who was believed to be the accomplice in at least one of the robberies. They were both taken into custody without incident. The vehicle they were traveling in was similar in description to the one described in several of the robberies. Robbery detectives responded to the scene and spoke with both suspects. Items of evidentiary value were collected after a search warrant was obtained for Mr. Richard’s vehicle and residence.
Jose Richard was booked into the Pima County Jail on 13 counts of Armed Robbery and 14 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Victoria Gonzales was booked on one count of Armed Robbery.
